Reverse engineering is the process that allows to analyze in detail the design of a product part to be able to replicate or modify it and improve some functional aspects. In fact, it is a process which, through the complete analysis of the geometry, functions and operation of an element, allows to find and optimize the properties of a physical object. How? Working manually or using different 3D measurement technologies with the aim of creating a digital representation of the object.
The designers apply reverse engineering to work “backwards” with respect to the original design process: starting from the final result, they divide the product and perform evaluations and measurements in order to obtain the physical information of the project.
